Thoughts on the Month

September was a wild month. Depending on which language you like your music in, it was either the worst or the best month of the year. I think overall this was probably one of the year's better months.

English language pop was surprisingly consistent. Ava Max's new album had a song that was one of the retro trend's best, legend Springsteen released a solid song, Justin Bieber released arguably his best single yet and I hope he continues down this route. But easily this month's best English language thing this month was Everything Everything's new single and album. Both were initially severely underrated by me. In the end, they barely missed a spot on the song and album lists.

E Tu, J-Pop? After being the most consistent language for music this year, J-Pop gets its first underwhelming month. Arashi's new song was the only one that managed to edge its way into the song list. Indian and Chinese music also continued to suffer weak months. I would like to note I discovered an excellent Kazakh song by singer Dimash called 'Qairan', but it was released in August. Sorry to Dimash and Kazakh blog readers.

K-Pop had an amazing moth though, arguably their best this year. My top 5 songs and top album picks are all K-Pop. I am sad to say that BDC, SuperM, and Everything Everything barely missed the song list. Treasure's song actually grew on me. My number five pick was this month's enigma, falling and rising. I gave it a score too high but it eventually grew to that score. I am unsure of how ahead it is of the pack, though. My number four pick is solid too. The number three pick proved a grower. Its second verse has improved greatly over time. The bridge though is still ugly. My number one and two picks are arguably interchangeable, and will probably change over time frequently. They are quite different though, one is simple and the other extravagant. YooA's new single also barely missed out on MV of the month.
