End of Month List: December
December is usually a musical graveyard, with hardly a comeback, most likely because no one wants to compete with the Christmas classics instead of trying to make a new one. Despite this, the line-up for this December seemed packed: Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, Taylor Swift, IZ*ONE, BoA, Oneus, Dhvani Bhanushali, NEWS, TVXQ, and more. This turned out to be slightly deceiving, as most of those artists returned in the first few weeks, leaving the second half of the month really empty.
December was dominated by one song. It is the only 9+ song this month, and a near-instant classic. The best thing is that is a debut, which will be counted for my 2021 rookie countdown. Speaking about 2021, the line-up for the first month or two is packed. We will have Yunho of TVXQ, SixTONES, Super Junior, Snow Man, Golden Child, Loreen, Treasure, IZ*ONE (possibly), and many more. Thing look up, or at least that is what is hoped because 2020 is over.
My whole list is very close, and most honorable mentions were in competition for the top 5. It will be interesting to see where they will end up a year or two from now. There were some good MVs this month, but it was middling for albums.
Finally, I would like you to make note of Dhvani Bhanushali's Nayan, it is a remake and thus disqualified, but it is a pretty good modern reinvention of the classic Gujarati song (which would possibly top the countdown if released this month).
My top 5 are pretty solid. They are also a mix of old favorites and new discographies. I feel sad for GHOST9's W.ALL which nearly broke into the top 5, and might eventually.
