End of Month List: September 2022

2022 has been a lopsided year, with growers and fallers galore. In a month that saw the return of Jackson Wang, Jaejoong, and Bjork, the best song was by a P-Pop boy band, followed by a Canadian singer whose only major hit was over a decade ago, followed by three songs from a Kollywood film soundtrack. It was hard to predict what came next this month, but the overall trend seems to indicate some solid if unspectacular, releases.

On the album front, however, things were slightly more solid. Jackson's Magic Man and Rahman's Ponniyin Selvan duked out for the top spot, with some competition from The Hu's Rumble of Thunder. and there is even a decent chance that they could end up on my year-end album list. I am just curious in which form next month's momentum will continue. After all, if I am not wrong, this is the first time that no artist from either Korea, Japan, or China has made it into my end-of-month top list. It shows the unpredictability of this year musically.
