End of Month List: October 2021

October last year was a strong month. I remember Midnight Romance's Nightmare, TXT's EP, Ohm's first Twice's Eyes Wide Open, Blackpink's Lovesick Girls (not the middling accompanying album), Bruce Springsteen's Letter To You, Suhyun's Alien, SixTONES' New Era, CL's Hwa, Demi Lovato's Commander in Chief, Drippin's debut EP, Fantastic's High Fever, Blackswan re-debuted, Golden Child's single album, NCT's album, Refund Sisters, and Weird Al's We're All Doomed just off the top of my head.

This year, a lot of those artists came back. TXT had a new single (ineligible for the countdown as it was a b-side earlier this year), Ohm released his second album, Twice released an American single, Lisa's b-side garnered attention, Golden Child released a new album, NCT was everywhere, Blackswan released her second single, while many other artists came back.

However, the results were decidedly more mixed. There were few highlights and few 'mehs', replaced with consistently good releases. It was a strong month for albums, with there being a lot of consistency. On the other hand, the line-up was a lot more mixed for singles. It will be interesting to see how all of these songs age in the upcoming months, especially with the end-of-year list coming soon.

The top 5 were really hard to decide. There were 7 highlights this month, and it was close to decide between them. Removing Ghost by Dreamnote, and Ohm's Devoid nearly broke me, and I took a lot of time to make the decision. Also, from this month, minus classical music, video game, movie, or TV music, instrumental music is eligible for my lists.
