Imaginary Album Review: Miyavi - Dance With Me
So far, Imaginary has thrived on Miyavi surprising at every turn. However, by this point, Are You With Me? suggested he was running out of ideas.
Thankfully, Dance With Me brings the album back to its consistency. However, not in the way, one would expect. Rather than an epic rock track, Dance With Me is a stately but slow stadium ballad.
Of course, Miyavi never resorts to genericness throughout the track. This is especially notable in the amazing electronic guitar breakdown near the song's end. However, signs of this creativity pop up throughout the track.
Quite notably, the surf guitar throughout the song provides a sort of relaxing feel. This counters perfectly with the dark reality the lyrics portray. This contrast is what made the album as a whole thrive, and this song is no different.
The song's ending, through a muted repetition of the excellent chorus, is another trick that works really well. It is a moment of catharsis.
In the end, Dance With Me is a strong addition at the tail end of one of the year's best albums so far.
